and how to avoid repeating the pattern again in 2020!

Has your business achieved everything you hoped it would this year? If like many of the business owners I speak to the answer is no, what are you going to do differently next year? To put it bluntly, THE NUMBER ONE reason that businesses don’t achieve their goals, is down to a lack of planning. FAILING TO PLAN IS PLANNING TO FAIL! Within that there are a whole host of other reasons, but planning is key!

The problem is this: planning isn’t exciting! it’s never ‘urgent’ and despite our best intentions, there is always something that seems more important to do.

Before you know it, another year has flown by, it still hasn’t been done and you are busier than ever. An essential part of the team, working longer and harder, ensuring it all gets done.

We understand how easy it is to fall into this trap… stuff happens and life gets in the way. Before you know it, work creeps into weekends and holiday time and the dreams you had when you started out feel like a distant memory.

It IS possible to break the cycle!

This point in the year is a great time to step off the treadmill & take some time out to evaluate why you are in business. To think about what you want to achieve for you and your family, and then set a plan to get it.

If the thought of getting started with planning feels overwhelming, these are my top tips:

  • Dedicate some time in your diary, away from all of the day to day distractions and spend an hour or two thinking through your ideas.
  • Begin with the end in mind and think about the bigger picture first. Start with your personal goals and then work out what your business needs to achieve in 3, 5 years or more to hit them. Your business should be there to provide you with the lifestyle you want!
  • With bigger goals in mind, get more detailed with a 1 YEAR AND THEN 90 day action plan WITH SIMPLE MILESTONES ALONG THE WAY. Keep it simple – a one page wall plan that you can check and reference every day is much more powerful than a multiple page document that gets shoved in a file and forgotten about!

If you struggle with planning, and would like TO TALK ABOUT HOW YOU CAN GET started, THEN get in touch. Many business owners find our planning and alignment sessions give them the motivation and clarity they need to get back on track.
